Volunteers are the backbone of Optage Senior Dining Choices. Volunteers do more than deliver and serve meals — they add their care and hospitality to give older adults a pleasurable and satisfying dining experience.

Volunteer kitchen assistants help bag and package meals for home delivery. Individuals and groups are welcome to volunteer during regular kitchen hours, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday or during special scheduled times in the evenings or weekends.
Volunteer drivers deliver daily hot meals or weekly ready to heat meals, help participants store ready to heat meals and review weekly menus. Equally important are the social interactions that occur with the participants when delivering their meals.
Volunteers offer hospitality and help with daily meals at the 15 dining centers across the Twin Cities metro area. Volunteers set up and clean up, greet diners and serve meals along with big helpings of cheer. Many dining center volunteers serve at the very site where they regularly dine.
The qualifications of a Senior Dining Choices volunteer are a genuine spirit of care and companionship, a few free hours a week, and a desire to do something nice for someone who will really appreciate him/her. Optage Senior Dining Choices thoroughly trains volunteers before assigning a delivery route or dining center location.
